What causes Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar Fasciitis will generally affect the heel or arch of the foot. It’s commonly a sharp pain with initial activity but will get slightly better as activity continues. The pain will set in at night or the following day, especially when first getting out of bed. This condition usually creeps up over time and in times of increasing activity levels. The muscles and fascia of the bottom of the foot become tight and inflamed resulting in progressively worsening pain.

What are Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis?

Sharp pain is present at the base of the heel and spanning the arch of the foot. When waking up and getting out of bed, plantar fasciitis pain will feel very sharp during the first steps. Pain is also present after periods of sitting for prolonged time.

How do you treat Plantar Fasciitis?

ART treatments are utilized to lengthen and free up the fascia and muscles deep within the foot. Stretching and strengthening protocols for the bottom of the foot can then be implemented to reassure the problem does not reoccur with more activity.

Knee, Shin & Foot

» IT Band Syndrome

The Iliotibial band (ITB) is the longest tendon in the body running from the bony bump on the outside of your hip down to the outside of the knee. It often tightens up to compensate for weak muscles elsewhere which leads to problems.

» Shin Splints

This common type of tendonitis can effect either the front or the back of your lower leg. Pain will usually increase with activity and decrease with rest, however in more advanced cases it can last even into the next day and result in pain with walking. The pain felt is usually very sharp, but may be dull after activity.

» Calf Injuries

It can creep up over time or with a quick tear of the muscle fibers. Your calf muscles are incredibly important in any athletics, walking and standing posture.

» Ankle Sprain

Sprains are generally associated with a traumatic event involving the ankle rolling in or out too much. There are three grades of sprains from mild (tenderness and limping) to severe (bruising, swelling, inability to bear weight).

» Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis will generally affect the heel or arch of the foot. It’s commonly a sharp pain with initial activity but will get slightly better as activity continues

The best chiropractors around as well as an inviting office and helpful office staff. I go to Dr. Fleming (who is amazing) but when she was on maternity leave I went to one of the other doctors and he was just as good. Each doctor has their own strengths and specialties which is really nice. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone!
